Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き o-konomi-yaki) could be the newest Japanese food word customers are trying to say and order. It is yet another type of Japanese dish after the likes of Tempura, Teppanyaki, Sushi, Ramen, Yakitori, Donburi, Yakemeshi and so on. it is a Japanese savory cabbage pancake containing a variety of other ingredients. It means grill what you like. This is Botejyu’s main offering.
I recently visited their third and latest branch in Robinson’s Galleria. I actually went on their very first day without intention and got an All Star Takoyaki for free. I was part of the first 100 diners.
Takoyaki am sure you are more familiar with. It’s a ball of wheat flour batter filled with octopus parts, ginger, green onions and other ingredients. Botejyu’s version was authentic good. It was fresh and appealing from the first to the last bite. It presents a creamy flare on the inside paired with even sharper flavors.
The Okonomiyaki I got was their Premium Moonlight. It is just one of the many varieties they have. This one is first presented in their long menu and has beef, pork, shrimps, squid and fried egg mixed on their premium cabbage pancake. It is also joined with special sauce, mayonnaise and tomato sauce. I found this very filling yet light, satisfying and fresh. I recommend this dish if you are looking for a healthier choice on your meals.
