Simply put, the meal I had here was the most expensive I’ve ever had. And I will most likely not forget it for years. The price tag 1160 AED, that’s around Php 16k in our money. The reason for this unreasonable adventure was New Year’s fireworks display fronting the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa.

Since I came here for that, I just had to give in. It could have been a better experience though if the food met its expectations. I was with a friend so her and I got all options possible on their elusive set menu. It included unlimited refreshments which we took advantage of the whole night. Love their freshly squeezed Orange juice, Pineapple Mint Slush and Green Apple.

To start Salmon Tartare was way too salty. Every bite brings shivers to your kidneys. The other appetizer, Superfood Salad was the opposite. Despite its amazing line up of healthy picks of quinoa, lentils, squash, baby spinach, pea shoots, kale in avocado dressing, it was virtually tasteless.

Soup was better. Crab Bisque paired well with Alaskan crab ravioli. The taste was fresh and strong. Cauliflower was simple yet refreshing light in the palate. It also had a dash of tempura bits.

For Main, it was rather disappointing. Kobe Beef wasn’t exactly what it was. It was not melt in your mouth, its texture more like tenderloin. Seafood Selection was interesting enough with sea bass, scallops and crayfish but its serving too little. It could also use more seasoning.

Dessert had the 2017 symbol on it. The Vanilla Cheesecake was creamy and not too dense with hints of berries on the side. It’s not the best one I’ve had but enough to satisfy sweet cravings.
