Wagga Wagga Jerk Chicken, Little Baguio

If you haven’t heard or visited it yet, I’m going to do you a favor. All the way in Little Baguio, San Juan, is a hole-in-the-wall enclosure called Recess Food Alley. It’s a (not-so-secret) escape to relive the days when we used to enjoy recess as school kids, a time where we can go around eating and playing without a care. Think of a tiny food park yet full of big discoveries.

In Recess Food Alley you will find Wagga Wagga Jerk Chicken, a wild and free-sprited concept that will only leave you entertained, if not wanting for more. It champions the budding Jamaican cuisine. As its name says, Jerk Chicken takes the spotlight here.

First in order should be to get their Jerk Wings (Php 125 for 1/2lbs) because it’s really what you’re there for. If you’re tired of the usual fried chicken, this has got the unapologetic kick of flavor. New go-to place? You decide.

Get their Hush Puppies (Php 125) too. They did it right than most that serve them. It’s basically cornbread fried to a nice crisp and crunch. Right sweetness and softness, with a gentle touch of savory notes that is perfect to offset the wild and tangy flavors from the wings.

Exploring their menu would be exciting and mouthwatering, to say the least. They offer Wagga Wagga Meals, which I would say is a very well-rounded one. Your choice of meat that comes along with rice, beans, callaloo and a slice of plantain.

I would recommend visiting the place because you may be missing out on such a vibrant concept. I know I can’t wait to get back.
